Walsh Farms 09

Well, here I am again...woefully behind on blog posts. But I have a slew of them almost ready to go...

October 18th, we went to Walsh Farms in Doylestown to get our pumpkins for Halloween. It was a little bit chilly, but there was lots of sun and an awesome fall sky above.

Another bonus - we were driving past my Dad's house on the way there...he was outside (had just finished some yardwork) and I pulled in the driveway to see if he could come with us. And he did!

Nick and Ben ran through the hay maze, while my Dad supervised.

Ben could have spent all day dumping corn down the slide in the corn pit. He was making a huge pile at the bottom for other kids to slide into. It was a little surprising to me that he was directing all his efforts towards the enjoyment of the other kiddos...last year, he might have freaked out had another kid wrecked his pile. But he really liked helping the other kids have fun. It might have had to do with the fact that the other kids that happened to be there at that time were a couple years younger. Whatever the reason, I was proud of him for being a team player. ;-)

Xavier is usually very excited about all that corn, but he was not thrilled this year. Not sure why. :-(

B looks 15 in this picture, doesn't he?

That wretched animal tried to bite him for no reason about 30 seconds after I took this picture. Poor Ben.

We headed over to the animal enclosure next. As is par, all the animals dropped what they were doing and gathered around Xavier. There were probably 20 other people standing in the enclosure, but all attention was directed towards Xavier. I'm telling you, its almost eerie. They flock. Xavier was in all his glory. The goats were butting his feet and I swear I saw the cow smile. ;-)

Hayride, woohoo! So, as we were getting ready to board, a woman coming off took one look at Nick holding Xavier, and said, "Um, I don't mean to be rude, but I just want you to know it is a VERY BUMPY ride." Nick laughed and said, "He'll love it even more, then." She looked unsure, and walked on. That lady wasn't kidding. It was terrifically bumpy. Xavier laughed the entire time. Ben looked worried, and I struggled to brace myself to take some pictures (the sky was so pretty!)

Thank you, Walsh Farms, for the fun times. And thank you for being only 5 minutes from our house. :-)
